Job description:
We’re currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on behalf of a thriving private label food manufacturing business based in Corby, and suppliers to major retailers within their industry.
You will be working in a small team reporting into the Financial Controller and working alongside another accounts assistant supporting the finance team with both sales ledger and purchase ledger as required.
The role is based in well-located offices offering a bright, comfortable and contemporary working environment. During the training period the role will be fixed hours but after a successful probation it will revert to flexi-hours.
What you can expect:
- Salary £26,000
- Working hours Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.30pm (37.5 hours per week)
- 25 days annual holiday plus 8 bank holidays
- Pension (5% contribution triggers company to match 7%)

Duties and responsibilities:
- Allocating customer payments
- Processing customer debit notes
- Validate and challenge customer deductions
- Sending out customer statements
- Chasing customer debt
- Sending EDI invoices to customers
- Investigating and solving outstanding EDI issues
- Monitoring the accounts email inbox
- Liaise with various other departments on approving sales invoices
- Supporting the purchase ledger when required
- Maintaining cost tracking files such as utility analysis, agency labour costs
- Preparing for and participating in, the year end audit
- Reviewing systems and processes and making improvements where necessary
Skills and experience required:
- AAT qualified or QBE
- Understanding of accounting and finance in a fast-paced FMCG environment desirable
- Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets (Pivot tables & VLOOKUPs)
- Microsoft Navision
- EDI experience will be beneficial
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and support other areas when needed
- Ability to successfully adapt to changing demands and conditions
